Fibre-reinforced Composite Materials

PP2005F polymer composite made of basalt fibers

The polymer composite PP2005F is characterized by high mechanical strength, excellent thermal resistance, chemical stability, low energy consumption, and an environmentally friendly production process. Basalt fiber composites are successfully used for the production of pipes for hot and cold water. The basalt fiber composite used for pipe production surpasses glass fiber in several mechanical properties: - 45% higher circumferential strength - 11% higher interlaminar shear strength (ILSS) - 10-25% higher modulus of elasticity - Lower energy consumption, which is 3-4 kWh/kg (for comparison, glass fiber has 6-8 kWh/kg) - Basalt fiber pipes can withstand temperatures of +85°C, while glass fiber pipes begin to deform at +65°C. These mechanical properties, along with low weight and longer lifespan, make basalt fiber composites a significant advancement in the development of reinforced materials.
