PP2005F polymer composite made of basalt fibers

The polymer composite PP2005F is characterized by high mechanical strength, excellent thermal resistance, chemical stability, low energy consumption, and an environmentally friendly production process. Basalt fiber composites are successfully used for the production of pipes for hot and cold water. The basalt fiber composite used for pipe production surpasses glass fiber in several mechanical properties: - 45% higher circumferential strength - 11% higher interlaminar shear strength (ILSS) - 10-25% higher modulus of elasticity - Lower energy consumption, which is 3-4 kWh/kg (for comparison, glass fiber has 6-8 kWh/kg) - Basalt fiber pipes can withstand temperatures of +85°C, while glass fiber pipes begin to deform at +65°C. These mechanical properties, along with low weight and longer lifespan, make basalt fiber composites a significant advancement in the development of reinforced materials.

Basalt geosynthetics

Made from basalt roving and coated with resins, basalt grids have a wide range of applications in construction, road surfaces, earthworks, and simple soil reinforcements. Basalt is a very durable material, resistant to fire and chemically inert. Basalt roving and the grids made from it, in addition to the natural properties of their raw material, exhibit high tensile strength. This makes them ideal for use in various environments, including aggressive ones, in solutions requiring structural stabilization and reinforcement of layers or connections under tension. Depending on the required strength parameters and the specifics of the application, geogrids come in different mesh thicknesses and aperture sizes. All are coated with epoxy resin, which provides rigidity and binds the roving, while also increasing adhesion to the reinforced material – for this reason, additional coatings, such as bituminous ones for asphalt surfaces, are sometimes used. For soil applications, grids combined with geotextiles are used. Basalt grids have versatile applications: - roads, railway lines, pipelines, as well as chemically loaded hydraulic structures and waste storage facilities – strengthening of the substrate and earth structures, - embankments and slopes – reinforcement and erosion protection, - mole barriers as a durable protection for lawns in any environment, - mineral-asphalt road surfaces – structural reinforcement and significant reduction of ruts, - floor screeds – improved strength, - external and internal plasters – leveling and reinforcement, - wall reinforcement – reinforcing masonry joints and connecting load-bearing walls with protective ones in layered partitions, especially important in renovated buildings, in seismic areas, and in areas affected by mining damage.

Reinforcing Bars – RebarBas

Stronger than steel? It's possible. Made from natural basalt, the RebarBas reinforcement bars represent a revolution in the construction industry. They are four times more durable than steel, resistant to corrosion, very durable, and at the same time lightweight, natural, and recyclable. Check out their capabilities! RebarBas is a bar with continuous spiral ribbing, produced using the pultrusion method from basalt fibers with the use of a very strong resin. Basalt is a natural composite material, eco-friendly, recyclable, durable, and offers a wide range of applications. The basalt reinforcement bars RebarBas feature greater strength than steel at smaller diameters – an 8 mm bar replaces a standard steel bar of 10-12 mm. This allows for achieving the same properties of the element with a smaller thickness. They are also lightweight, making them significantly cheaper to transport. This is just a part of their advantages! Reinforcing wire – save with basalt technology In terms of strength, basalt reinforcement surpasses steel reinforcement. At the same time, it is three times lighter, does not corrode, does not create thermal bridges, and does not lose its properties even under constant contact with water or exposure to extremely low temperatures or aggressive environmental factors. Thanks to its numerous advantages, the RebarBas reinforcing wire allows for optimizing construction costs, thus helping companies compete more effectively for clients. Three times lighter than steel reinforcement Lightweight basalt bars are easy to transport and store. They can be transported in larger quantities without the need for special vehicles and procedures, saving time and money. Extremely durable High mechanical resistance means that basalt reinforcement can have a smaller diameter than steel. This allows for more economical use of materials necessary to build a safe structure. Corrosion-resistant Basalt bars do not corrode inside concrete and retain their properties for a long time. Thanks to this, they also perform well in environments exposed to water and aggressive conditions. Basalt reinforcement – a guarantee of durability, safety, and lower implementation costs The application of basalt reinforcement in construction is very broad. Basalt bars are suitable for: - masonry structures – including architectural structures, columns, fences, etc., - concrete reinforcement – including in industrial floors, foundations, paving slabs, and even earthquake-resistant structures, - highly corrosive conditions – including in channel pipes, pools, tanks, wells, ports, dry docks, - road construction – including highways, bridges, or runways.

Basalt rods

Basalt roving is a fundamental raw material for the production of various types of reinforcing and thermal insulation materials. Roving is an untwisted continuous strand made up of fibers with a small diameter (9 to 20 μm) and has a linear density ranging from 50 to 4800 tex. Basalt roving consists of a bundle of continuous, unidirectional single basalt fibers. The product is characterized by the high natural strength of basalt, resistance to aggressive environments, long lifespan, and excellent electrical insulation properties. In terms of technical properties, basalt roving surpasses glass type S and glass type E in many parameters and is almost as good as carbon fiber. Basalt roving is exceptionally heat resistant: it can periodically operate at temperatures up to +1000°C. The temperature range for long-term use is from -260°C to +680°C. Basalt roving has a wide range of applications. It is used to produce refractory materials, basalt fabrics, pultruded composites, basalt meshes, geogrids, components for car bodies and interiors, boats and yachts, wind turbine blades, propellers for boats, high-pressure bottles, synthetic rattan furniture, filters for purification devices, etc. Durability: A product with high mechanical parameters and resistance to aggressive environments. Economics: A favorable alternative to carbon and glass fibers. Ecology: A natural product processed in an environmentally friendly manner with a low carbon footprint, fully recyclable. Basalt roving possesses a number of unique technical and utility properties, such as: - high mechanical strength, - resistance to biological and chemical corrosion: alkalis, acids, and other aggressive environments, - resistance to seawater, - ability to filter aggressive substances, - high frost resistance, thermal resistance, moisture resistance, - high sound absorption, - low thermal conductivity, - resistance to ultraviolet radiation, - dielectric and diamagnetic properties, - it is an environmentally friendly material. Basalt roving is the best substitute for glass fiber: exhibiting greater strength and less brittleness, basalt roving easily replaces glass fiber, thereby ensuring the reliability and durability of finished products. Basalt roving is a great alternative to carbon fiber: basalt slightly lags behind carbon in terms of modulus of elasticity, but is more resistant to point impact loads, less brittle, and unlike carbon, is a dielectric. Furthermore, basalt has significantly greater fire resistance than carbon fibers.

Basalt fabric

Basalt fabrics have a very wide range of applications, from clothing elements to structural reinforcements: - as reinforcement in composites, such as laminates and plastics, to increase their strength and stiffness; - as an insulating layer in pipelines and devices to protect against heat loss; - for the production of fire-resistant products, such as fireproof curtains and cable covers; - in the production of sports equipment: skis, tennis rackets, bicycles, etc.; - as protective material in the chemical industry. The cost of basalt fiber fabric is significantly lower than that of other materials with similar applications. Basalt fabric is woven from continuous basalt fibers in the form of roving or basalt yarn. It can be used to produce structural basalt composites based on various thermosetting adhesives. Such materials can be used to manufacture components for cars, airplanes, ships, or household appliances. In the case of preliminary metallization of the fabric, the resulting basalt composite can acquire shielding properties against electromagnetic radiation. General-purpose fabrics are used, for example, as fireproof blankets used to extinguish very complex fires caused by the ignition of highly flammable liquids (especially gasoline). The non-flammable nature of basalt roving makes it resistant to flames for a long time. Fire Resistance High fire resistance of elements made using basalt roving. Plasticity, Formability Basalt fiber allows for the creation of various shapes. Lightweight and Strength The ability to create lightweight and highly durable composite elements.
