Fibre-reinforced Composite Materials
Basalt fabric
Basalt fabrics have a very wide range of applications, from clothing elements to structural reinforcements: - as reinforcement in composites, such as laminates and plastics, to increase their strength and stiffness; - as an insulating layer in pipelines and devices to protect against heat loss; - for the production of fire-resistant products, such as fireproof curtains and cable covers; - in the production of sports equipment: skis, tennis rackets, bicycles, etc.; - as protective material in the chemical industry. The cost of basalt fiber fabric is significantly lower than that of other materials with similar applications. Basalt fabric is woven from continuous basalt fibers in the form of roving or basalt yarn. It can be used to produce structural basalt composites based on various thermosetting adhesives. Such materials can be used to manufacture components for cars, airplanes, ships, or household appliances. In the case of preliminary metallization of the fabric, the resulting basalt composite can acquire shielding properties against electromagnetic radiation. General-purpose fabrics are used, for example, as fireproof blankets used to extinguish very complex fires caused by the ignition of highly flammable liquids (especially gasoline). The non-flammable nature of basalt roving makes it resistant to flames for a long time. Fire Resistance High fire resistance of elements made using basalt roving. Plasticity, Formability Basalt fiber allows for the creation of various shapes. Lightweight and Strength The ability to create lightweight and highly durable composite elements.
